I am trying to troubleshoot my home computer from Baghdad and my wife's a blonde so help me!
We have a new eMachine and my wife said that one day she saw a error message about Wild Tangents on the screen, she clicked OK, it crashed immediately and rebooted, now she doesn't even click OK, it just makes it to the desktop and reboots. Had her go to Safe mode and uninstall Wild Tangent and remove it from HKLM...Run in the Registry. Still same. Had her use MSCONFIG and look at Startup, nothing checked, had her use Diagnostic startup, reboot, desktop----CRASH. I believe I turned off System Restore, I usually do. Any suggestions? ~n |

Since you can get to Safe Mode, turn off the Auto Restart after error feature. This will allow a Blue Screen with an error message to appear which can be used to diagnose the problem. Right click My Computer>properties>Advanced tab>Settings button in Startup and Recovery> uncheck the appropriate box

Wild tangents is a spyware. You could have her try: http://www.pchell.com/support/wildtangent.shtml
Or use hijack this to provide a log, and remove suspicious entries. |

Hi Dr. Nick!!!
She removed it from the Control Panel and the Run key in the Registry.
