Unhappy How to improve dialup connexion speed - Win XP Pro

hi gurus..

Can anyone suggest what i can do to boost my dialup connection speed..Its painfully slow..I also tried installing Opera browser. That does not show any significant improvement in browsing either. Does this have to do anything with Service Packs 1 or 2. I had lot of issues with SP2 installation earlier and ended up doing a complete format. Now I have no SPs on the PC.

Pls let me know what can be done..

Thanks

Using brand new phone line from the modem to the wall can help.

Replacing the actual phone jack can help.

Often times the limitation is outside your home. Before cable was available in my area, dial up was my only option. Fastest I could connect was 28.8 because the old phone lines in the area could handle transmissions any faster than that. The local phone company finally admitted it was their equipment after several calls.

Go around and check all of your phone jacks for corrosion (you will have to unscrew them and pull them out of the wall to look at the wire connections).

If the wires are corroded, you will have to trim, strip and reconnect them to the panel. If the contact points for the phone cable are corroded, you can try cleaning them with an old toothbrush and some solvent.

You will have to check *all* of the phone jacks. All it takes is one to ruin connectivity.

Also, if you usually have damp weather, this can hinder the connection speed.

Sorry, never heard of TweakDUN before so trying it would be at your own risk. Be sure to create a restore point before you try running it in case things go sour.
