Dlow System & Can't get Internet Explorer to work
I have a Toshiba Satellite lap top I am using with Windows XP Professional installted on it and I am using AOL 9.0 security edition to acess the internet, I also have a linksys network system that the lap top goes through to access the internet. The network card is built in the lap top.
The computer was very quick when I purchased it over a year ago but it has gradually slowed down now. I also am not able to acess some web sites that I have always been able to acess unless I use dial up. I can get my AOL running but then it gives me a error that says the part that accesses web sites is not working and reset my computer. I have reset it several times. I can get my e-mail when I use the network but I am not able to get internet explorer to work now either. I am also getting a error that the Windows 32 part of computer is not working and so I can't run old dos based programs that I used to be able to run. My daughter uses my lap top sometimes and it seems like these things have been happening after she has been using it. She would not have changed any of my system settings because she is not that computer literate but she does love to surf teen sites like most teenagers do and she is doesn't understand that you have to be careful with some web sites. Can anyone give me some help getting the system speed back up again and get my internet explorer going again so I can acess web sites again when I sign on with my network? We did a disc defragment the other day but that didn't help at all. I tried to do a system restore to date prior to when she used it last and I know that the internet explorer was working but neither of these things helped. I hope that you got Recovery CD with your machine because it may be that you will have to use it, but before that you will have to BACK UP any important data you may have. BUT first of all please (if you can) visit this web page and run this scans:http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
