unable to delete registry key

i've been using a registry cleaner to clean up invalid entries, but there were many that i couldnt remove, via the registry cleaner or manually.

i received error messages

"Cannot open .xxx: Error while opening key."

"Cannot delete .xxx: Error while deleting key."

how do i clean up my system effectively?

whoa that was a fast and quick reply!

here are a few:

HKCR\.avs
HKCR\.MOV
HKCR\.OGM
HKCR\.ZMF
HKCR\.ZNI
HKCR\ChatFile\DefaultIcon

i think these problems are not related to their respective software as there are like 65 of these random keys in total

Why exactly do you want to get rid of them?
