restricting access in WIN XP

Hi I have on my home PC, WIN XP. I have two accts. one adminisitrator; the other acct is for my children. The childrens acct., is the one I would like to restrict access to.

Specifically, i would like to make it be that after being on the internet they cannot delete the cookies, and history files. I guess making internet options of IE not available to them.

They seem to enjoy doing what it is they enjoy, on the net, then thinking they are so clever, delete all traces of where they went. Can I prevent them from doing this????

Thank you

Thks for the reply. I was wondering if here was an easier way to do what I am trying to do. Actually, once I have the directions then I have to call my wife and have her do it.

Too bad I don't have a s/ware that I can remotely access my PC at home!

VNC. There are a few flavors - WinVNC, RealVNC, TightVNC - some of which are free. If you run the server component on the home PC as a service, it will always be on and listening. If the machine is behind a router, you will have to assign it a static local IP and forward a couple ports to it, and you will have to know what the real IP is to access it.

if you both have windows xp home or pro you could try a remote assitance session, that way you could follow the regedit steps from the link i gave you and you could instruct your wife and watch her do it at the same time or she could hand the session over to you and you could do it for her.

Spybot S&D has an option to lock out the Internet Options from within IE, but it doesn't block you from doing it in Control Panel. Maybe you can find a policy for their accounts (standard users I assume) that locks out Control Panel. Try running gpedit.msc and look around.
