INIT: BIOS TV signature not found...

I've been doing googles searches on this phrase and cannot find anything on it.
Back on 6/22 I did a Windows Update and downloaded the:
KB893066, KB816422, KB890046, KB896358 hotfixes
I also downloaded a Korea Data Systems ver. 1.0.0.1 for my cheap emachine monitor which I never installed drivers for.(another issue)

In my event log upon boot-up I am recieving:
INIT: BIOS TV signature not found ati2mtag SDTV event 4957

What is a BIOS TV????

I have a suspicion it's a Radeon ati thing..If so, did W2K have MS generic drivers? I was thinking of justing re-installing them if the Korea junk driver is the problem.
Symptons- when W2K starts up and the Windows 2000 screen is booting up it hangs, then flashes once, and sometimes when it flashes the whole screen blurrs out in computer blocks. (grey and yellow) - not quite the Blue Screen of Death but doesn't look too healthy....

OS: W2K Pro SP4
650 PIII
60 gig. Seagate
Tekram P6B40...
Bus 100
Bios Award 4.51
HP CDRW 9300
Radeon 7000 series

Okay - I pointed myself into the Radeon preference menu area.
Found there is drivers under c:WINNT\system32\DRIVERS\ati2matag.sys
File version is 6.14.10.6517

No I do not use, nor will ever use a TV on this computer - this was a "hand-me-down" home built sys from hubby who does SolidWorks (CAD stuff) he has the Dell 650 xeon to keep him happy, while I try to figure what he put on and how to use this system.

Okay, now that I find Radeon has this driver, why is it bugging the event log at start up?

If it helps any, the Radeon menu now lists that Korea update in the menu bar:
KDS Visual Sensations XF-70/Xf-7e/Xf-7p/Xf-7i and Radeon...

Ps thanks for your replies!

That's not onboard video - the P6B40 is a standard ATX board with an AGP slot.

I would uninstall and reinstall the ATI drivers, and don't worry about the KDS drivers, those are just .inf files that won't hurt or help anything as long as the monitor is detected as a generic plug and play or as a default monitor (and installation of which will not cause anything like what you are experiencing). Just make sure you set the resolution and refresh rate to something within the capabilities of the monitor.

My hubby reminded me it's called the "Hydra Vision" area that allows all these preferences - he just needed the card to optimize SolidWorks for him. All the other stuff we could care less about.

Unhappy

I uninstalled Radeon using the CD; rebooted and re-installed it.
RE-booting Windows W2K screen looks good no flashing blocks.

Problem #1 Device Mgr now shows Monitor with exclaimation mark. Properties show: eView 17f 00001. Drivers are not installed Code 28. Giving me the option to reinstall drivers. If I go to driver tab; I am given to unintall or update. Now wouldn't this put me back to square one?

Problem #2 - Sound card sounds like an AM static (tunes start in faraway sound then go out)- I am assuming the Radeon re-install bumped it out. It's a SB 16pci (4.1). There's nothing showing in Device Mgr., Control Panel Sound icon is showing all Multimedia items working properly....

Now I did not update Radeon yet - the date of the existing cd drivers is from 2001 - I think I saw those drivers being updated to 2005Feb. before I uninstalled it. I didn't want to put more gas on the fire unless this would be an issue
Thanks for your replies!

I think I am finding the answer..... KDS posted this on their website:

Additional drivers are not required for monitors to function in WindowsXP, Windows2000, WindowsME, Windows98 as the "Plug and Play" function syncs your monitor with your video card. If your refresh rate is low (60Hz Vertical), number of colours wont go above 256colours; you have to either install or reinstall the correct video card drivers for the operating system you are using. The odd 3D video card requires a "Monitor Name" to fully install the video card driver. In this case you can download the drivers below and install them to enable your video card drivers. To date, we have found this with only a couple Matrox cards and VooDoo 3dFx cards. The monitors in our offices all function with "Plug and Play" as our monitor drivers. We utilize video cards from ATI (Expert2000, Radeon, RageIIc etc.) as their products are very stable and drivers are always available.

This is why I hate Windows Update - about every two years it gives me a driver or update to something not needed for W2K.

I went into Control Panel and did a hardware wizard and when I selected to update driver it searched and gave me Plug-n-pray Monitor - GLC is this the generic driver you were mentioning to install for the monitor?

In good news the event log is not showing the problem I first asked about.

Plug and play is as generic as it gets. That's all you need.

Sorry glc, playing with drivers isn't my favorite thing, esp since I downloaded this without verifying if it really needed it. Put the drivers in and the error report is gone.
Thanks for clarifying this!
