Special Spanish Characters with Office 2000
I have read a bunch of things about using the alt key and the control key
but cannot seem to get the special accent or tilde characters i need for Spanish typing in Word 2000 on Windows XP. Can someone help please? Also, would Office Word 2003 be different method? |

Tacoeater,
check out the ALT shortcuts on this page. I have tried the majority of them in word 2000 and they work fine. The CTRL ones seem more confusing and some did not work. Hey, what do you know if I hit ALT + 164 in this text box i get: ñ HERE

Thanks for that edrod13.
I had created custom shortcuts in "insert>symbol, In Office 2000, as I sometimes wright in spanish, and I found annoying to insert symbol every time I typed those caracters. The problem with my set up is every time you re install Office you lose your settings. Thanks again John |

Thanks,
I tried this on my computer with XP and Word 2003 and I just can't get the Alt 164 to give me a tilde n. I do have to go back to the customer's place later this week and he has XP and Word 2000. Do I need to do something besides the ALT xxx, do i have to use insert key or something else? More suggestions please. |

Are you clicking on the ALT button and letting go before you type 164? Sorry for such a dumb question but just thought I would ask. I will look around and see if there is something else for Word 2003
I know you said that the ALT + 164 did not work, but how about the others? HERE is a way that you can use Word 2003 to print out shortcuts. I am not sure if it includes spanish ones but it might be worth a try. If it does inlcude them, then they should be compatible with 2003 or at least you would think so. HTH I just tried it and these are just windows shortcuts, nonetheless a very nice tool. Sorry Last edited by edrod13; 07-27-2005 at 03:09 PM. |

Thanks,
I finally figured it out. I have to use the keypad. I was typing the numbers across the top instead of the keypad. Thanks everyone. Alan |
