Check out this website for help troubleshooting Windows XP shutdown problems: http://aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.php
I can't help you with the hibernation problems. Personally, I think hibernation is more trouble than it is worth because there always seems to be issues like these. I always disable it. |

What I have run into with PC's not shuting down is driver conflicts... Is this a clean install?
Try starting in safe mode and see if it will shut down from there. If it does this meens it dosent like something you have installed. You may be able to trouble shoot by manualy turning off programs one by one and see if it clears the issue. Sometimes it something you don't really care about. For the Hibernation... Disable it untill you have the shutdown issue resolved. These issue may be related. |
