I need to start over...
I bought a laptop a while back. I've been attacked many times by viruses. Slowly my pc has slowed down to a crawl, internet explorer will just quit, and I have many other problems.
I've run many many scans, and they find several "uncleanable" trojans. When I manage to get rid of them 3 take their spot. I have run HJT logs and made many attempts to get it back to normal, but it isn't doing the job. I've backed up all of my important word documents and pictures, and I need to completely start over and do things right this time (a firewall for one). The drive has many trojans and viruses, so I need to do a complete format and reinstall of Windows. My computer came with "QuckRestore System Recovery CDs." Will these do a low level format on my notebook pc? I doubt just reinstalling XP will do it. Thanks. I have a HP Pavilion ze4300 with XP SP2: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/p...&lang=en&cc=us |

Using the Quick Restore should essentially wipe the hard drive and start again fresh, but if you want to wipe the drive yourself you can use something like KillDisk to zero fill the hard drive and then run the Quick Restore CD.
