Error Message When Closing Programs

Hi everyone. I have a new problem with my computer. When i shutdown various programs i get and error message like this:

C:\Documents and Settings\Me\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\OR0Z2B6T\fye_multiicon_16x16[1].png

...is corrupt or damaged, please run chkdisk utility. I am having problems with my chkdisk utiliy or else i would just run it, but it seems to give me this message when i shut down msn messenger and newsleecher. Hoping you have an idea for me. Thanks a lot.

I'm not sure why any program would want to see your IE cache when shutting down... sounds like you may be infected with something. First thing I'd try it clearing the cache, then run chkdsk...

Ok, i just finished using system mechanic to clean out my cache and all that jazz. It still comes up with the same message. I tried to open the file (.png) but again it said it was corrupt. ugh. Did i mention my chkdsk doesn't work? everytime, it comes up and says:

- System is NTFS
- Cannot open volume for direct access to disk
- Check disk is finished (or something to that effect)

and it does this every time i boot up.

Anyways thanks for your time.

Have you tried running chkdsk in Safe Mode? Also try deleting the offending file in Safe Mode.
