explorer.exe doesn't autorun
Hi,just a few weeks ago my computer was running smoothly. About a few days ago my taskbay started disappearing after i logged on. I think it is explorer.exe since it is not in the program list untill i run it manually. Is there anyway I can fix this?
*also while in safe mode, the taskbar loads aswell as explorer.exe Last edited by roadbiker; 08-01-2005 at 03:16 PM. |

what windows OS are you using? 98se/ME/2000/XP?
have you scanned your pc for viruses and spyware? virus tools: AVG housecall.antivirus.com spyware tools: adaware spybot microsoft antispyware if you dont have these download and install them. and run each program in safe mode to to detect any viruses and spyware.

i'm running xp:he. Yes i scanned using norton antivirus corp. edition and ad aware.Removed spyware cleanly,no errors after that.Virus scanned found more then i would suspected, seems to be someone disbaled autoprotect by accident most likely and had about 20 viruses. There were some trojans and what not but all were successfully quarantined. It wasn't till a few days later that the taskbar would fail to show despite systray loading everything.

since you had that many trojans on your pc, i would recommend running: housecall.antivirus.com in internet explorer just to see if it got all of them. run it in safe mode with networking.
my sisters pc had a similar problem with viruses except her norton antivirus wouldnt detect any viruses. i put AVG on it and ran a scan and it found 10 viruses. might want to do a repair install of xp from the recovery console if your still having the explorer problem. |
