Jacks Back!
When I go to>>> Start >>> My Computer, the right side of the screen is blank, and eventually it reads: "Not Responding". At that point, I must reboot. Strangly, it does not do it when I go to: "My Documents", "My Pictures" or "My Music". So after I reboot, everything is fine for awhile contingent on how much opening and closing is going on, but I access my files frequently and this is a pain in the asphalt! As my units are under warranty from HP, I spoke to there so called "second level techs" many times about this and the best they could offer was to right click start and go to "Explore" instead of "My Computer". Fine, but it does it there to! Your Assitance Appreciated! Jack

Hmmm... I can't really help with the not responding part of your post, but have you tried pressing alt-ctrl-delete simultaneously when it starts locking up, and then having a look at the processes etc. in there.
You should be able to just close that window, rather than rebooting. |

I can't say I've ever had very good luck on "fixing" this type of problem. IE and explorer have their hooks deeply into the system, and when windows explorer starts crashing on a regular basis, while IE isn't having any problems, I've finally started just rebuilding my systems. For me it saves time in the long run.
If you're on XP you might try a system restore after backing everything up, but I really don't know what else to suggest to you. |
