Windows takes forever

It takes at least 15 minutes to boot. I see the loading screen then black for about 6-7 minutes. Then I hear the startup noise and I see the backround, but nothing shows up or starts for another 6-7minutes. I re-ofrmated and ran diag tools on my harddrive. It still does it. Any ideas?

How quick does it start in Safe Mode? -- Also, remove all CDs/DVDs from your drives; a bad disk can make a system hang for long periods of time.

It seems that your MUP.sys file is causing you some grief. I have read up on it and it seems to be caused by PCI cards, USB devices, and sometimes ram. Some folks have have gotten rid of the issue by just installing their ram module in another bank so if you might want to give it a shot. Also are you using a USB mouse or keyboard? Can you disable QUICK POST in your bios and see what happens. HTH

I ripped my system apart, and still no change.

Then I get it back up and see that tip on USB devices..........that's what it is. I started up after pulling my joystick, muse, and card reader. It booted fine. hmmm, now that I know. What to do?
