Hi all,
I've deleted some software due to limited space but now when I've tried to re-install and I keep getting a message code is invalid. It worked ok when I originally installed but not now. Any ideas |

When you say "deleted some software" - did you actually uninstall it properly or did you just delete it? - Be honest, we won't shout!
What is it you're trying to install? |

No I did un-install through control panel etc. Not sure whether it's logged in the registry somewhere and won't let me re-install.
Trying to re-install Acoustica Label maker. Just as a matter of interest I am using Xp Pro. |

Hmm, i'd agree that there must be something left over from the previous installation.
Try running Registry Mechanic to see if it picks up any left over Registry items. Worth a shot! |

Trails and other limited term/usage software leave keys/registry values behind to prevent people from just deleteing and re loading the trial and avoid buying the software.
If it is purchased software like an Office suite then it sounds like something similar happened but it is not 'supposed' to happen. Have you checked the software companie's support forums for this? If it happened to you then it probably happened to some one else too.

The software was a trail, but then I purchased the code over the net. This was a while ago. Now,I've mis-placed the code. As you do, Doh.

It's possible that you might be able to get the activation code again from the manufacturer. I'm sure most company's have some sort of protocol for handling this type of situation. Everyone loses a product key at some time.
I purchased some software through Digital River, IIRC, a few years ago and either misplaced the code or lost it in a hard drive crash and I was able to get the activation codes again because I happened to remember the username and password I'd used to purchase it. It was a couple of hundred dollars worth of software so I was pretty fortunate. I'd look into talking to whoever you purchased the software from. If it was online then you may get lucky just like I did. |
