Help please...computer won't start up!

Hey, i have an old Dell Laptop (dont buy dell), inspiron 2650. I use it regularly, but i tried to start it yesterday, and it kept getting stuck at the windows xp boot screen with the status bar (did not get to login). Its where the blue boxes go from left to right...if you know what im talking about. I did not change anything from the previous use...also, i usually dont click start>shut down...i usually just hold down the power button for 5 seconds because its just that slow. So...anyone know how to fix it?

Also, i tried safe mode. it seems to get stuck while loading "AGP440.sys"

which is the video card, i think.

Any thoughts? Please reply fast, i have to get this fixed within 15 hours... =(

by shuting it down improperly windows cannot save anything that is needed to restart, you can do a repaire install if you have a full version of xp and not the restore one that comes with a lot of systems.
you may be forced to do a reinstall, if what you have is the restore and then you will loose everything.

rule number one never turn of your computer by turning the power off windows needs to save data that is why it must be shut down with the start button
