I would like some help in solving a new condition on my PC ... I am running Windows XP Home SP2 and Internet Explorer 6.02 on a home built PC (which is over three years old now) with SBC DSL Internet Connection.
Problem: When ever I click on an attachment (.jpg .bmp .doc .txt etc.)in any Internet based email program (such as Yahoo, or G-Mail) it now open a blank page and then the smaller window asking if I want to "Open, Save, or Cancel" the attachment. This stated about two weeks ago and there is nothing I can think of that I have changed that may have caused it ... but before then if I clicked on any attachment it would just open it in a new window and then i could either follow it on to any other location if there was a link included or close it and return to my original window (which was still open in the back ground anyway). BUT if I click a few times (at least two or more) on the refresh button in the top tool bar of Windows Explorer after clicking on the attachment but before the attachment is opened then it will open in new window like it always has for years. Not sure if this little quirk will help point to the cause of the problem but I thought it maybe helpful for an experienced tech to identify what is actually going on with my PC and Explorer. Any help or suggestion on how to fix this problem will be greatly appreciated ... it is really annoying. Thank You, Micheal Last edited by Mich1954; 08-04-2005 at 12:55 AM. |

Have you changed anything in your internet options or security recently, so that it prompts you?? I had to change mine in there to get it to do this, so that'd be the logical starting point.

Can you point me to the option you feel maybe the cause of this problem? Which one did you change to make you PC respond like mine is? Thanks for the help ... Micheal |

Have you tried deleting your temporary internet files and temp files?
