windows 64bit edition
Does anybody know if windows 64bit is going to be available to download for home edition?
I found out about the 64edition when i found the 64bit patch for far cry. I have an amd64 3500 and nvida 6800gt pci-e, so i have the hardware to support the patch, but i have windows xp home edition, so i cant run the game at 64bit. I a 64bit operating system necessary to run all 64bit programs? |

You can buy the 64bit edition if you like and set up a dual boot.
I don't know what your last question is asking but you can run the 64bit extras from Far Cry on a 32bit OS. It's been done before and the instructions are out on the web for your enjoyment. No 64bit edition needed.

Install the Farcry AMD64 update on 32 bit OS, not that exclussive anymore
OK, here is what to do to made the 64 bit ECU and Patch 1.32 work on 32 bit:
Download both packages: farcry_amd64upgrade_us_uk.exe and farcry_amd64_ecu.exe and from cmd install them on your 32bit OS with farcry_amd64upgrade_us_uk.exe /a and farcry_amd64_ecu.exe /a this will create an unpack of the installation files on new folders you choose Copy all the new files over your Far Cry installed files. http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=51444 |

i wouldn't do it, i installed the 64bit windows and ditched it after a couple of days, i will admit far cry looks pretty cool, but that is the only good thing about x64, except its stability and security, but all the little things pissed me off, like the fact that my video drivers worked but all the icons on my desktop were grainy and had rigid white boxes around them, none of my printers worked, small stuff like that, plus everywhere i read they are recommending to wait for Vista i am currently using Windows Vista 64bit Beta 1 and it seems like it is going to alot better than WinXP i would wait until next year and get that

When something is really funny, something that ROFL just doesn't do justice, ROFL-copter is used. Link
It's funny/ironic that he wants 64bit Windows for performance, security, and stability yet when he gets it he says that is all it has, like denouncing it or something... like it should have more. When those factors are the biggest thing in any OS. Edit: Realized it was you who did the quoted post, replace all the "he" with "you". Last edited by DragonNOA1; 08-06-2005 at 02:52 PM.
