Is this your first OS that you install on your new PC?

If it is, something in your PC might not be compatible with windows 2000

Ps

i'm also pretty sure that everything that i have in my pc is made for windows 2000 and above. Although i have a floppy drive that was with an old computer that used windows 95 a long time ago. Can that be the problem?

have you checked to make sure the HD is recognized in the BIOS? a floppy is a floppy, i really don't think that is the issue.

i haven't set up w2k in a long time, but i think it may have froze on me once when i didn't have the HD properly installed. if its not recognized in the BIOS, you may have a connection issue

thought the floppy, can be the problem. it happend to me once, i remove the old floppy by a new one and worked. But i think that it will happen in rare ocasion.

But hobey19 is right. check the bios, you might have a connection issue

Although, not a solution to your problem, but for future reference. Install an Operating System with only the essentials(CD, Floppy, Hard Drive, Video, RAM).

If a reinstall does not fix the problem, something in your system is holding everything from going to the next step.

my computer also runs extremely slow. The boot process takes a minute to get to the "needs system disk" screen. Is that a connection problem as well?

i tried to exchange the ribbons on the HD but that didn't seem to work. The BIOS also shows that the HD is the one that i put in. I did a HD detection to be sure but that took way too long. Is the HD it self bad? Any ideas?

I was also wondering if my western digital HD is having compatability problems with what I have running with it. Should I reformat it? If so how?

I don't see any kind of dos command screen on my pc

I used a different hardrive to install windows. It worked like a charm. As for my other HD I haven't done much to it yet b/c it still acts up on me and I can't install windows on it either.
