I know this is not really answering your question but what seems to be the problem with it? and what have you tried to fix it?
I have not used these sites but check them out... they might have the download you are referring to. http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm http://freepctech.com/pc/002/files010.shtml Good luck with it. |

You will have to buy a replacement set from the computer manufacturer.

ME was one of the worst OS and it is no longer supported by microsoft. if you want to reinstal an OS, i suggest another one.
But what is the problem with your PC, if we can solve your problem it will be easyer for you |

Just to make sure you know = some Recovery Disk sets will entirely erase the drive, repartition & reformat, and then reinstall a disk image of the data that was on the computer when it was first purchased. Nothing added since then is kept. [It's also true that some recovery sets offer "partial recoveries" that don't do this = you'll need to do your homework before trying a Recovery set]. It's harder to have a successful Recovery using these methods if much hardware has changed on the system.
As glc mentions, most manufacturers still offer replacement sets for a modest fee (I've seen them as low as $20 to $30 [USD]). You might have the operating system .cab files right there on the hard drive = which, if they aren't damaged or infected, could be used to reinstall from. If Windows is still functioning enough to look for things: use Windows Explorer to see if the files are in C:\Windows\Options\Cabs (this is a common place for OEM vendors to put them). If Windows isn't working well enough to do that, the WinMe disk from bootdisk.com that HyperTF provided the link for would allow you to start the machine in DOS = where you could look for the files using the Directory command from the A:> prompt = like this: cd C:\Windows\Options\Cabs dir It's possible the files could be elsewhere, but that's a good location to start. For the complete over-the-top (or "in-place") reinstallation procedure, see this thread http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=70846 The little details are important, you might want to print the instructions out before starting the project. Best of luck! . . . Gary |
