right clicking my computer or any drive - weird issue
Okay so here is a really odd problem, maybe someone can tell me where to go to fix it.
Just recently, every time that I right click on either My Computer, or a specific drive, or if I try to copy files from one place to another, an installer pops up and says that it is getting ready to install my program Roxio easy cd an dvd creator (which is installed already by the way) and then asks me to put the cd in, I hit cancel and it gives me the error about how it cannot proceed and I hit okay and then directly after that one goes away, I does the exact same thing with Norton Ghost. But for Ghost I have to hit cancel like seriously 5 times, because i hit cancel and it just tries to do it again. After the five times, then finally I get my right click menu. The same thing happens anytime i try to move or copy any files. Where might i find a setting that I can change (most likely I am guessing inside the registry somewhere) to fix this - It is very annoying to say the least. |

If the problem arose recently you might restore to a date before you began experiencing the phenom, or you could completely uninstall the two offending software suites to see if that restores the right click functionality and then reinstall the apps. Just a few suggestions off the top of my dome.

Hi turbo
If you have a decent set of backups (since you have Ghost, I imagine you do), next time you receive the "ready to install" - for these programs, let them. I have two guesses - either 1) you installed them under a different username, and now must install them under your current username (and didn't use any "make available for all users" during it's intitial installation), or 2) the installation procedures include an "automatic update" as part of finalizing the installation, and the "ready to install" notices are for updated files for these two programs. Wouldn't surprise me if #2 is the reason. If it is, let us know, in case anyone else is suffering the same symptoms. And if that doesn't do it, maybe we can come up with another plan. . . . Gary |

Hey thanks for helping guys. I wanted to let everyone know what the problem was.
It was Windows Installer to blame. I had to to run the "Windows Installer Clean up Utility" Read about it here http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=290301 |

Nice find turbo. Thanx for the feedback. I was wondering if maybe a sfc/scannow run would have fixed it too.
