major windows XP problem!

Hello everyone, well I'm having some major problems with windows XP, I dont even know where to start, but hopefully someone here will know something.
For starters, I'm having pop ups like crazy. Whether or not I'm on the internet, pop ups come. When i'm not signed onto the internet, I get one of those "can't find url" pop ups instead of the actual pop up. (I have comcast high speed by the way, so i just have to disconnect it in order to get anywhere) Ok, so also, whenever I try to run ANY program to try to fix it, it wont let me. I try to run spy bot, or ad-aware, and it every time I try to run these programs, it says " such and such has encountered a problem and must close" and it makes me shut it. This happens with all programs too, like the system maintenence stuff.
Then also, there's something weird going on. I've never seen this before, but randomly, a window will pop up that says something to the effect of "the server is busy and can not complete the task" and it has me choose between "switch to.." or "retry" or "cancel". So i have NO idea what that is. I dont even know where to start in fixing this stuff because I cant really get on the internet long enough to look up anything. (it took me about 15 minutes just to get to this page to post this topic) If anyone can give me any tips on what to try to start off with, I'd really appreciate it.
Also, sorry if something like this has been covered, u gotta understand, I really can't even think about using the search option here because it would take me about four hours at the rate this computer is going.

will the computer run correctly in safe mode? Have you tried booting off the XP cd and going through the "REPAIR" option.

I'd send you to the security forum but you might not make it.
You've got malware, alot of it, and it sounds like something is regularly calling, or trying to call, home. So that's the possibility of trojans and keyloggers.
It's shut down anything you might use to remove it from your computer and when this is over you'll have to give some thought to how it got to you.
I'd tell you to save what you can and format but there is one long shot.
Can you get into safemode with networking?
Press F8 repeatedly when the computer boots and choose the networking option if safemode loads.
If that's possible try running your anti-virus, spybot and ad-aware in safemode and go here :http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
That should get your computer cleaned up enough to be stable so you can post in the security forum.

Major XP Problem!

You definitley have Spyware and probably a virus. So get up into Safemode and work to eliminate it. With the networking option you should be able to download the latest spyware and virus definitions and clean them up. Don't forget to disable system restore before beginning or you will just add the bad guys back to the system recovery database. After you are up and running again clean then you can enable it again.

once you get your system clean either by running spyware and antivirus removal tools in safe mode. or by reformating it and starting over then i would say make sure you have all of the windows updates installed on your pc . also make sure you have a firewall actively running (windows firewall, norton internet security, zone alarm. etc) on your pc when connected to the internet.

Angry Fire Heads up guys....

There's a new nasty out and it's associated with CWS .
In addition to planting the usual malware it's a major mode of identity theft and it turns your comp into a spam zombie.
So Axis-D should put a fraud watch on his credit report and change all his passwords because given the description of that bug it sounds like it's on his computer.
Since it also harvest addresses he has to warn people in his address book and, if he uses it, on his IM buddy list.

Download adaware's spyware removal tool. After you get rid of the spyware, delete temp files and run disk cleanup. Do a scandisk/chkdsk and then defrag your drive.
