Media Center Edition 2005

Couldn't find the right category for this.

Could someone please explain the whole MCE 2005 business to me?
What's the role of this OS as opposed to XP?
If I wanna watch (and record) tv with my computer, I still need a tv tuner card right?
Do I just no longer need the software that comes with the tv tuner card?
What about a remote? Is there a special MCE 2005 remote?
If I buy a tv tuner card without a remote control will I be able to buy a remote control later? What about a universal remote?

You can only get Media Center Edition preinstalled on the proper hardware. This isn't an OS you can buy and put on your own hardware. Basically, it's a version of Windows that is prettier when it comes to recording TV, watching DVDs, and listening to music.

If you just want to watch and record TV on the computer you have now, you need a TV tuner card. They usually come with software to record video.

Even when I was writing that it can only be purchased preinstalled, I figured that it was available somewhere. IO guess I can't really believe M$ websites when it comes to the availability of software.

Is it just XP with programs bundled in with the software? I can't see why they would make a whole operating system based on software that just came with it... how is it different?
