Password Protect Folders

hey guys my boss has a bunch of files and he watns to password protect teh whole folder. he's using xp pro. i thought there used to be an option in attributes but didn't seem to find it. thanks there pdf files to

Trouble with password protect is that the user can forget the password! much better to assign permissions to folders. In explorer go to tools\folder options\view tab scroll down list and remove the tick from "use simple file sharing" you can then right click the folder and assign permissions for user access ie full control modify etc.. be careful of the fact that accounts on the computer may by default have admin rights whereby they can overide (take ownership) of files and folders.

As an addendum, you need to be using NTFS to assign permissions. However a more secure way of protecting the folder is to use an Ecryption (EFS); its there on XP Pro. Read: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/223316/EN-US/
