remove XP

Good morning folks...
I have an old Dell Inspiron 2500 note book with XP installed,and I woiuld like to remove XP and install win 2k pro...Can this be done expeditiously,or with little effort??TIA...GaryD..

Are you trying to just remove XP and keep the rest of the data intact? If you want a fresh install: Just boot with your Win2K CD; choose to install windows 2000. During the partition screens, remove every partition that's on there, and then recreate new partitions.

Trying to remove XP and keep the rest of the data,This is not my note book, it belongs to a friend..

Not really. I'd copy off all data that needs to be saved then do a full wipe.

OK copying the data wont be hard, but doing a full wipe,(format the HDD) would that not remove all the dell MoBo information and require a recovery disk??I think we still have the origanal disk..

Just don't get rid of the diagnostic partition. It's about 32mb and at the front of the drive.
