eliminating dual boot

I installed XP pro on my slave in order to partition the master. Then I installed XP pro on the master. The system obviously dual boots now. How do I get rid of the OS on the slave. I've deleted the OS, but it's the same. I pulled the slave, but the BIOS screams and won't let the computer start. I re-installed the OS on the slave and am back to square one. I read the post about using msconfig, but there is no disable function that I can see.

Do you currently have the OS on both your master and your slave, or just your slave? If its on just your slave then why not just switch your slave and master disks, or have you tried that and bios wouldnt let you start?

Boot up with the XP CD and go to the console repair screen. Then type these two commands seperately:
fixboot
fixmbr

That took care of the dual boot issue. Now the drive is listed as a system drive. How do I make it a slave so that I can partition it? These drives are both SATA.
I deleted the OS off that drive, but it is still showing immovable files. Also it won't let me format it, change the drive letter, or any modification.

Physically disconnect the slave before booting into the console and doing a fixboot and fixmbr.
