Inconsistant performance

I have noticed in the last two or three weeks that my system seems to be slowing down.
When I first boot up all is well, boots pretty quickly opens mail, and my browzer quickly but after I have visited two or three web sites, or move around to different features on a web site it becomes very sluggish.
I occasionaly get a "operation timed out" message. Features on the hard drive work flawlessly, as fast as I can click my mouse buttons.

I run ad-aware, disc cleanup, spybot once or twice a week. AVG anti-virus daily,
clean registry two to three times a week and defrag when analysis says I should.

Am I looking at doing a reformat and re-install of software? Damn I love doing that!

Could it be a power supply issue.

My case abient and cpu temps run between 29 and 34c so I don't think it's a temp issue.

Any ideas?

I rarely download anything. No music for a variety of reasons. I occassionaly get some utility program or an item for one of my racing sim games.

I did the clean ups suggested, and I do those usually once a month or so.

I did notice an article on PC Mech's front page regarding Adware and the top 5 rated programs. I downloaded NoAdware and ran the scan. It found two items listed as "dangerous" that my other programs had not detected.
After subscribing, I ran the scan and removed the two problem items.

Things seem to be running faster and smoother now.
