Can install XP HD trouble
I was having trouble with XP so I formatted my HD. I tried to reinstall XP but every time I get to the screen to chose which HD to setup XP on it doesnt show any drives. I also have an external HD and it detects the external if its connected. I assumed it was the HD that was damaged so I bought a new one. I got it today and I am having the same problem. Both HD are SATA drives. I also setup both HD using Disc Manager bootable program and everything went fine. So now I am at the screen to chose which drive I want to install XP on and it says
To set up XP on the selected item, press enter To create a ............................................ ............................................................ _________________________________________________________________ | Unknow Disk | (There is no disk in this drive.) | _________________________________________________________________ and if I touch any key I get an blue screen with an error message A problem has been deceted and windows has been sht down to prevent damage to your computer If this is the first time you seen this stop error screen restart your computer. Disable BISO memory options such as caching or shadowinfg. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components , restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced startup options, and then select safe mode. How did you format the hard drive, did you just delete the volume and leave it as unallocated or did you make it an NTFS drive?

Hmmm.... I did a few Google searches and the only thing that returned anything of interest was a search for setupdd.sys. All the errors related to file are for faulty hardware. One was for a faulty cdrom drive, and others for faulty ram.
When you changed your hard drive out did you happen to take out the ram and look at it, or poke your hands around inside computer without wearing a static strap? If so you could have zapped some of your ram, or didn't get it seated correctly when you reinstalled it. You might also try, if you have more than 1 stick of ram, swapping them or removing first one and then the other. |

Are you pressing F6 and loading the controller driver from a floppy?

No I did not press F6. Did not think I had to since I did that when I got my 1st SATA drive, I will try that.
