genuine advantage

starting to get a trickle of business thanks to the genuine advantage roadblock. my question is this. when they bring in the computer and a new legal copy of xp is it possible to run an upgrade with the legal copy or a repair install or something in order to leave all their programs intact?
thanks,
alan

You may just insert the new serial #/CD Key - try this: http://windows.about.com/library/tips/bltip721.htm

There's an even easier way to do this. I discovered it just playing around. Download The Magical Jelly Bean key finder. Run it to display the exising Product Key. Click on the Options at the top and you'll be able to simply replace the old key with the new one. Quick and easy. I now carry the MJB key finder on my USB drive of service programs.

Whoa, that magical jelly bean is really neat, i wish it would tell me the cd key for my office xp. I lost the key, cant instal it, and haven't bothered calling Microsoft yet.

Try Belarc. It can tell you the keys for all your software.
