I've been wondering how to completely disable the annoying alerts that show up in your taskbar (the bubbles) in WinXP. This is the only really annoying thing I haven't figured out how to do, and it's starting to tick me off. I've already tried searching for it in the "hide inactive icons" dialogues in the taskbar/start menu control panel, but no matter what I change they won't go away. Specifically, the most annoying ones are "Your computer may be at risk" (Windows Firewall), "This device can perform faster" (USB 1.1 vs. 2.0 -- I need 1.1! Stop bugging me!), and new hardware alerts when it's not new hardware. Even if it's a registry hack or something scary, does anyone have any solutions?! Thanks a lot.
