networking issues

i have two computers running XP. i have cable internet. i have a cable modem and a broadband router.

i want to use computer A to be the computer which connects directly to the internet, and computer B to connect to the internet using computer A.

however, when i used the Network Connections Wizard, it set up B as the ICS Host instead of the other way around.

how do i change things to the initial scenario? because when i tried running the wizard to make A connect to the internet directly as the ICS, it won't let me. i've tried resetting all the modems, disabling computer B's network connection, but no go.

help!

If you have a router, is there any reason why you want to use ICS?

What messages/error is preventing you from setting up ICS on computer A?

Computer A does have to NICs, correct?

i have since managed to setup the two computers the way i had intended.

is there a better way to do this?

thanks!

You don't need to use ICS to share printers and files. It will work just as well with both computers attached to the router. It is usually a simple matter of putting all computers in the same workgroup, then sharing the folders and printers that you want. Using ICS is completely unnecessary and needlessly complicates things.
