Should I buy OEM or Retail versions of XP?
Confused with what to buy. I'm debating if I should Buy oem or Retail, what are the major differences? I noticed that the price was WAY cheaper or an Oem, why is that? Any schoolin' would be appreciated.

OEM, you get the disk with Windows XP on it, and that's it.
Retail, you get the pretty box and any booklets or user manuals that would come with the program. I don't know for sure if XP comes with a manual or not because I've never bought the retail version. I've always went OEM.

Retail will give Microsoft support,OEM means you're the support.
If you have a previous OS on cd,Win98,95b or ME you can get the upgrade version and do a clean install with that. In that way you get the cheaper price and have Microsoft support. |

the OEM version will be tied to that machine. with the retail u can transfer it to another machine; of course u have to remove the OS from the first PC when u transfer.
