Sound Card..and clicking
I had to reboot my computer the other day after it crashed. And I found out today that my Dell Dimension ResourceCD was wrecked...so now I can't download the driver into my computer. Is it possible to get another one, or anywhere online to get it downloaded. I'm pretty sure its an ACS...my speakers are an Altec Lansing.
Also, whenever I seem to hit enter or hold alt or ctrl..my computer seems to click...like a clicking sound from inside. What's the problem? |

just visit the dell website, put in your PC serial number and you should be able to download all the necessary drivers for your model.

There should be a readme link on each individual driver download page that tells you exactly how to download the driver and install it.
The number you have to put in on the Dell support site is the Service Tag Number - it's a 5 or 7 digit alphanumeric code on a barcode sticker on the computer, usually on the back side somewhere. |

Explicit - by the way, after you get the sound drivers the way you like them: the clicking sounds aren't related to your sound card driver. They are optional sounds that can be attached to events as part of a sound "theme" (such as "Windows Default", "Utopia", etc.). You can change the sounds assigned to these events using the "Sounds" applet in the Win98/98se Control Panel. You can, in fact, change things to not have any sound associated with them at all (aka: "No Sound" theme).
Best of luck . . . Gary |
