Sketchy details at best. Things still liable to change drastically, as always happens. Here's Microsoft's info.

I just got back from Greece for a three week trip, therefore had to use internet cafes alot. Every single computer I used had Vista. I never saw any other OS. On the surface I did not notice a whole lot of difference. The navigation was faster, and I had to use it for alot of picture editing. It has a great media section. I did not have any negative points about the little useage I had with it.

How's that possible? It's in a closed beta.

I thought the same thing. I told my fiance that it was not even out yet. Can anyone overseas in Italy or Greece comment. Every computer I used had Vista. I don't know what closed Beta means, but I know I used about eight computers over in Italy and Greece and they all had Vista on them. Go figure. May be it was not the real thing I don't know. I just know it said Vista and looked much different.

It means that it is not out a public beta .. people cannot just "download it" and use it without having been verified by Microsoft's beta program. If they have, and are using Vista out there then
(a) they are idiots for using a first beta in an insecure environment like an internet cafe
(b) they are probably violating the terms under which they received the beta

I have used it and it didn’t run to bad. In fact I was really surprised how fast it ran. It only slowed down when I was browsing folders but when running programs they ran just fine. The interface is almost the same… Instead of a menu popping out when you click program list, the programs show up on the start menu. Takes some time to get used to it. It also seems to index your program links so when you type what you are searching for the results are instant. The only bad side was that most of my programs didn’t work on it but what do you expect for a beta.

Italy is probably like Mexico… Piracy is supposed to be illegal but the laws on piracy aren’t really enforced so that’s why Internet Cafes can use what ever software they want.

I only saw it when I was in the Greek Islands. Wish I could go back, but not to take a screen shot.

I really like the black taskbar, a relief from the blue and grey that I'm getting sick of.
