Lost Taskbar

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this or not but here's the problem.
My wif ehas an old HP 8755c,she got Tiger Woods PGA tour 2005 and it wouldn't play because of the onboard video. I got a Diamond Stealth Radeon 7000 pci video card due to agp slot, installed the card and drivers and it plays the game great but I lost the taskbar completely, win key doesn't work, tried the ctrl+esc trick, wouldn't work. If I plug the monitor cable back into the onboard video the taskbar reappears. very frustrating,HP's cmos has no way to diable onboard video or any other options that I can see. Anyone have any ideas,I am stumped.

Have you tried locking the taskbar in place when you can see it?
Right click on an empty space on the taskbar and bring up the menu.
Click on Properties which should bring up the taskbar window and then make sure lock taskbar and keep taskbar on top of other windows are both checked.
Make sure auto-hide isn't checked.
If you can't find it you may have to go pixel hunting around the screen edge for it or you can try altering the resolution in Display in Control Panel , depending on what you're monitor can handle, until you can pull it up.
Once locked it shouldn't go wandering off in the future.

Pam123,
Thanks for the suggestions which I appplied, but when I plug the monitor back into the pci video card, the taskbar disappears again. Also when this happens the WinKey won't. Very frustrating.

FYI,
I figured it out! I disabled the onboard video adapter in the device manager, while rebooting, pluged the monitor cable into the new video card, the cars was recoginized, loaded the drivers and joy taskbar and WinKey back to normal and video is great.
