Windows XP registration

I reboot my computer often, but this time, when i tried to register my cd key, it says it was wrong, i tried about 10 times and nothing. Is there a way to bypass the registration?

Are you saying that you reload windows often? Rebooting is just turning off and back on again the PC and that alone should not bring on the behavior you are experiencing.

Are you trying to bypass activation or registration? The two are separate, the first is mandatory and can not be avoided to retain use of the OS after 30 days, the second is purly optional and can be bypassed by checking the do not prompt again check box on its window.

Assuming that you do mean reload the OS then you need to take care on the typing in as some of the letters/numbers can be confused, you can also call in and do this via the phone with Microsoft.

I mean rebooting my hard drive. It's where they activate the cd key. I've done it alot of times, but this is the first time it hasn't worked.

So it's the validation of the CD key you're having problems with? Is it saying that web-activation couldn't proceed, and prompting you to call a phone number?

If so, then this is a security policy Microsoft have, that becomes apparent when you've activated your CD-Key a few times.

There's no problem, however, just call the number listed for your area. The operator will ask you (sometimes even in English ) the reason for this activation (just say 'reformat') and whether you have the software installed on multiple machines (obviously 'no' is the correct response here).

You'll then be supplied with an activation code to type in.

The code you need (if you've managed to install windows but are still within the 30-day activation period) can only be obtained by calling the number quoted above the boxes prompting you to type in the code.

See my above post for the questions they'll ask.

& so we close another thread because someone can't resist stating the obvious. Yes there are a lot of things that you can catch through google or any other search engine, including - and not limited to - virus, spyware, spam etc.

I'll summarize it for the benefit of xstealthstrikerx - If yours is a legal copy of XP & if your Windows activation fails, there should be a phone number listed for telephone activations, call the number up and you should get a new set of activation codes. If yours is not a legal copy of XP, a copy of XP not activating is the least of your issues. Eventually a lot of other software and components (like Office or Windows update) are going to turn against you - I suggest you factor in the cost of an OS to your entire technology costs.
