Just guessing, but that sounds like a Spyware/Trojan type of problem. Do you use Adaware and Spybot regularly? Try running both followed by a scan at Trendmicro.com.

Funnily enough i ran Ad-Aware, Spybot & Ewido last night before i shutdown and nothing was found.
Yet when i boot up and check for Windows Updates first thing tonight i get that message. That's why Spyware wasn't my main thought as nothing has been done on my laptop since last night. I'll run a scan anyhow and post the reults shortly. |

Ok, i have now run Ad-Aware, Spybot and Ewido Security Suite which found not one dodgy program / entry.
I did try to run Trend Micro's Housecall but i have now found that any web address i enter into Internet Explorer's address bar comes up with the error message in my initital post. Google, MSN, anything. And beings as Housecall only works for IE i'm kind of stuffed there. I also ran HiJack This and had the log analysed and found no malicious entires. I'm really stumped on this one guys. EDIT: Google.Com now takes me to Google.FR (!) |
