Question about windowsxp update

I have automatic update enabled on my WindowsXP , do I still have to visit the microsoft website for updates or its not necessary?

No, upon shutdown you will be asked to shutdown and install the updates, do so. It will install this way without you having to go to MS's website.

Yes you must periodically visit the website to download optional and other updates. Automatic updates will only give you critical updates.
