Tip of the Day : Let Windows XP optimize your hard disk
I tried to optimize my computer hard disk by following the instructions given in this Tip of the Day titled "Let WindowsXP optimize your hard disk"
but could not find the file "REG_DWORD" in the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion \OptimalLayout. But instead I see the two files in this path which are as follows: Default REG_SZ (Value not set) LayoutFilePath REG_SZ C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch\Layout.ini Now let me know what should I do? How can I create a new DWORD ? Last edited by ITlover; 09-22-2005 at 02:50 PM. |

Right-click inside the right pane and type EnableAutoLayout just like I have typed(no spaces). Then right-click on the file you've created and choose modify, change the value to 1. I had the same lines as you before doing the above.
