Angry WMP 10 rip to Mp3 new Dells XP SP2 codec yadda

i did search but maybe not hard enough,

this is happening to 3 exactly the same dell PC's,
windows XP sp2, windows media player 10.

try to rip CD's in Mp3 format and i get a information bubble saying "WMP 10 does not support Mp3 withoput a codec etc"

has anyone got a fix for this?, i have tried a reg hack that didnt work, and i dont see why i should pay for an Mp3 codec when WMP 10 works fine on my self built system and my old gateway when ripping to mp3 in all bit-rates.

Thanks

Do you have any MP3 codecs installed? LAME for example is free: http://lame.sourceforge.net/

Probably the best way is to install the GSPot Codec Appliance (http://gspot.headbands.com). Once installed; go to VIEW > Installed Codecs > Audio
