Replacing win.com?
If I replace win.com w/ a fresh copy from win98se cd will it chnge any settings in current desktop?

I don't believe win.com holds such settings, as it is a "command" file = .com -- It's the command file that begins loading windows.
Are you thinking of win.ini? I think your best bet, which has a chance of keeping most of your current data and programs, is the over-the-top. Then reload Grub or LiLo for your slackware distro. I believe there's an article in the Linux documentation that tells how to do this - these documents are often installed by default with most distros. . . . Gary |
