aaaarrrgh...

i had to reinstall windows...

had to call Microsoft to activate...they gave me a new key.

then i found out that for some odd reason, the freaking OS installed itself onto H: and not C:

i couldn't install some very important programs because of this, and after research, i had to reinstall AGAIN.

then when i tried to activate, the stupid (sorry, it's been a long day) automated thing tells me that it's an invalid product and ends my call! it won't even let me talk to a real person so i could explain what happened!!!

i'm going to call another support number to see if i can talk to a human being, but i know that mentalsoft won't help you if you have an oem cd.

i've already re-formatted, re-installed, re-everything all over again. i've used delpart to do a clean install. but alas, ms. automated won't let me talk to anyone. grrrr.

any advice? aside from having to buy another OS?

surely there's an option that will let you talk to a human about general inquiries.
just fib your way to a human.

You might try E-mailing them, or contacting Dell.

okay, contacted dell (their customer service really is excellent) but they pointed me back to mentalsoft because they give out product keys, not dell (which does make sense).

FINALLY got to talk to a human being, and was able to activate. now check this out -- right after it was activated and rebooted about 3 times due to program/driver installs, it AGAIN asks me to activate! which has never happened, even after hardware installs.

weird.

so for the umpteenth time, i got it activated, and hopefully this will be the last.
