Can I install Different programs to differen user accounts?
Hi,
Is it possible to install a program in only one user account i.e so it doesn't install into all the user accounts? Thanks |

A program is installed to your operating system/platform. It is not just installed to one user account. However, depending on your operating system (like XP, 2000), you can either prevent another user account from using it - either through security restrictions and/or through removing it from the start menu. This will, of course, only work if the other user account does not have administrative rights.

And if the program was an anti virus program, would doing this stop it loading up in the other account?
thanks |

As I said, programs are installed to the computer not to the user. If your program, like an antivirus, is designed to be running in the background, then yes it will remain running no matter whether a user is logged in or not... well at least all good antivirus programs should be.
We seem to be dealing with a great deal of hypothetical scenarios here; perhaps, if you need more help... I could help you in a more direct manner if you could tell me a little bit more about what you're trying to do with details like what program, are you the admin, is the other user also have admin rights, how do you want to prevent access to said program by said user... etc. Cheers |
