Serious Problems

Im having really bad problems with my computer. I sign on and get to my desktop and then it crashes. A blue screen pops up right before it crashes, but it goes to fast so I cant read a word it says. I have many important documents and files on this comp and I cant lose them. Is there anyway I can retrieve these files without logging in? Also, is there anyway to find out whats going wrong? I havent changed any hardware or installed any new software recently.

Sorry I'm a dork... Try to boot into Safe Mode... Tap F8 when the PC is starting then choose the "Safe Mode" dont try any of the other options just yet. When in there disable the rebooter.

Looks like I cant even get into safe mode. I press F8 and it asks me where I want to boot from. I select my harddrive and it then boots like normal. Is there something Im doing wrong?

I cant even get it to boot up in safe mode. I select safe mode and the system restarts and boots normally. Should I just wipe the hardrive and start over? If I do do this, how do I wipe it and start over?

You could try pulling the hard drive and use another computer to try to get the files off it by installing it as a slave drive. Also stick a bootable cd in the cd drive and it might boot to it depending on when in the boot process the error is occuring and what boot order is set in the bios. If it boots, you could try a repair install of windows, or a program called Knoppix to recover the files. Download it on another machine and put it on a cd and boot from it.

you could just try a repair install - if it works it will leave your data intact.

go into bios and select cd as primary boot drive; put windows cd in drive and wait till windows screen comes up. do not select repair at this screen - select install and at next screen select repair.

good luck

It could be a faulty PSU or RAM... if you can try replacing these. In fact, tell us what PSU and RAM you're using
