how do I del Program~1\yahoo!\Antivi~a\vetmon9x.vxd

i tried using del frm C:\ prompt and C:\Windows> prompt in win98se and I kp getting syntax and path errors. Yes I tried deleting it frm windows gui dir but Find Files is not finding vetmon9x.vxd and winmun32.vxd...
Bootup tells me its trying to load these items and they nd to be deleted if I deleted them and associate files on purpose, which I did. In an effort to remove sbc dsl yahoo software b/c windows is throwing up when i try to load it. no more over the top installs or clean installs plz, they r not solutions to this startup problem. Thnx

You have to keep typing cd ***, where ** is the folder name containing the files until you reach the right folder. Only then can you type del vetmon9x.vxd and get it to work. Type dir each time you copy folders to make sure you've entered the new folder

Have you set the "View" options in Windows Explorer to "Show all files"?

If the files have the "hidden" attribute, you won't find them. "Show all files" will un-hide them. Then, if they are not in use, you should be able to delete them with Windows Explorer.

However, I imagine the problem is that the files are indeed deleted already, but the lines requesting that they be loaded are still in either the Registry, or an .ini file. You could use regedit to search through the Registry for those two files & edit accordingly. And you could use the msconfig tool to check the .ini files for an offending entry & edit that. You can run msconfig from either the Start/Run box, or go to Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Information. . . and from the "Tools" menu choose "System Configuration Tool". I imagine you might know the precautions to take editing the Registry. The msconfig tool, by the way, under it's "Startup" tab, will allow you to remove a checkmark from a box before any entry that looks to be your damaged SBC software - and will prevent it from trying to load at startup.

You must have a high pain threshold - you've been hacking away at that Windows 98 partition for a while now. Well, at least you're gaining experience!
