Password problem
I appologise if this is lengthy, but this will sound odd without some explanation.
My computer is broke. A friend of mine who works in IT has an old think pad that he's lent to me. It had two hard drives. One with lynix that I couldn't figure out how to configure to get it online. The ohter has ME. He hasn't used this in a long time. The system asks for a admin password. My friend has no idea what it is. I've found that I get to the splash page, hit f8, get into the admin safe mode (how? I have no idea the safe mode password I've found is administrator) and log in fine. The system password isn't so easy. This would be find if I could do everything from safemode...I can't. So My first option. Is Fdisking this hard drive and starting new. The problem there isn't the loss of material; the actual problems are a) Its so old and underpowered I won't take xp and b) I don't have anything, or know of anyone who doesn't have a system specific version (dell, compac, Hp..) of 98 / me.... So my next option / question, does anyone out there know a work around to this? Like I said this sounds odd...maybe even schetchy, but I tell you if I was hacking NORAD I don't think I'd be looking for advice on a forum. So I'd be enternally gratefull if anyone has any ingenious Ideas. Thanks. |
