Odd error I don't remember
Okay, well I just turned on my PC after it was shut down since this morning before I went to school. For the first time ever I got a warning upon start up saying that my PC had recovered from a critical error, now I a not ever sure when this happened b/c I did not watch my pc shut down, so perhaps sometime between pressing shut down and the time it actually turned off, but I have no clue when.
The error is : BCCode : 1000000a BCP1 : F1085FE4 BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 : 00000001 BCP4 : 8051F841 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1 and the technical report said it would include these files: C:\DOCUME~1\Ryan\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER8a88.dir00\Mini092505-01.dmp C:\DOCUME~1\Ryan\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER8a88.dir00\sysdata.xml Anyone got any ideas what might have cuased this. PS: I am using opera but on accident I opened some of my emails which were in my hotmail account in IE yesturday. Could I have gotten a virus? Norton isnt picking it up, so Im in the process of downloading AVG to run and see. TIA, Ryan

If you can still boot, check event viewer under system for any errors. Possibly a faulty device driver.

Where can I find even viewer, I dont remember ever having looked in it before.
Thanks, I can still boot, I got the message right after My desktop had loaded and it was titled "recovered from serious error" and asked if I wanted to send the error report, and naturally I said no. I never gotten a solution from them before on any of my other computers. |

The Event Viewers are part of Disk Management. Open DM and look in the left area under System Tools.

The last error was reported at the time I started and got the message. It goes further into saying
"Explanation A blue screen (Stop error) was reported. The message contains details about the error. A matching event with Event ID 1001 might also appear in the event log. This matching event displays information about the specific error that occurred." and "Error code 1000000a, parameter1 f1085fe4, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000001, parameter4 8051f841. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp." This is like the worst time an error could have occured, was like the only time that i left my computer and didnt watch it shutdown... If I did get a blue screen it would have been for the first time on this pc, should I shut down again and see if I get another error when starting up? Thanks |

I would make sure the Auto Restart on Error is disabled and see what happens when you shut down and restart a couple times. See if you can duplicate the error. If you get a BSOD, write down the error message and search it out at MS Knowledge Base for a cause.

Just ran all my spyware and viruses and got nothing, did a restart, and no problem, checked the error log and the only one was the same one i get every time which was "volume 2(c) failed to boot" and that is b/c I had made a mistake installing windows the first time and made a small 3gb C drive, which i ended up resolving minutes after by reinstalling windows. under disk management it shows up as C good, G good, C volume 2 failed, but it hasnt caused a problem and has been like that from the begining, do you think it could have just been a minor fluke?

May be related to the partitions but if it doesn't do it again I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Windows can do funny stuff sometimes for no explainable reason.

Not sure if it`s a minor fluke or what at this case.
Are you running IDE or SATA drives? If so, RAID? Are they configured as basic or dynamic? |

They are IDE hard drives, no raid, I honestly dont think they are the issue, i checked the error reports and I get the same "volume2(c) failed to boot" (or what ever it is called) every time I startup.
On other computers I have used and had I have gotten the weirdest errors upon start up and the computers have been fine in all aspects, I was just a little puzzled since I spent a lot of money to build my PC, and got my first error in over 3 months of running it. Thanks Ill post back later if I get the same error over again. |
