XP boot/registry error
Guys,
Need your help, a bit of a long post but stick with it please before I tell you my problem a bit of history. about 2 years ago I was having PC problems and because I have only just found you helpfull lot my PC went away to be fixed, all came back and was tickedy-boo (UK speak for ok for all you non UK types )for the past few weeks my PC has been having problems booting, it would go through all it's checks and get to the windows boot screen (with the progress bar) then it goes blank. normally to be followed by the windows desktop. however what I was getting every now and again was a blue screen with some writing on it (couldn't read as screen went 2 quickly) and then a reboot. It was only happening when I switched on in the morning and very occasionaly during a game, it was a pain in the bum rather a major issue. fast forward to saturday and my PC has not booted in 2 hours just going through POST windows boot and the blue screen/reboot cycle. however the blue screen is on for a little longer and it mentions something about registry error. tried running repair from the windows XP disk to be asked for administrator password, now unfortinatly the company who fixed my PC are no longer in business so I can't find out the password!!! and this is for a piece of soft that I actually own also I cannot re-format the hard drive as I have too much data that I cannot looseso I am now sat with a PC that won't boot a piece of software that I can't use. I'd rather not go trying to transfer data using another PC as I don't have a PC (writing this from work) the biggest problem I can see is the password protection, any ideas how I could get round this? or any other ideas in general? Thanks as always. PS almost forgot my system athlon XP 2400+ 512MB ram gforce mx400 GPU Jetway N2PA-P Ultra mobo windows XP pro |

When yours computer was working did you log on it with or without password, if you logged on with password that’s the password that he asks you to put, if you did without password it should be blank(because no one is authorised to put password on yours personal(home)computer except you or someone from your household !!!

I never used to login, would always go straight to the desk top.
but don't you have to put a user name in when you install, the guy who re-built my system had my software and did a clean install. surely it would not ask me for an administrator password if there wasn't one. I will leave password blank and enter and see how that goes. but if anyone else has any ideas please let me know. thanks |
