Cannot stream Anything!!!

I don't know why, and I havn't been able to find anything about this on the internet, but for some reason I cannot play streaming content in IE. The windows media player interface comes up. But it will refresh constantly, or I hit play and then it immediatly stops, etc.

This happens on everything from normal sites, to movie trailers, to launchcast!

Any ideas????

streaming content

Maybe a long shot but look at the tools- options bar of the media player. Check the security section and see if you have streaming content blocked. there's also zone settings you can look at. Also under file types see if you have them checked ( associated) with wmp. Firewall blocking wmp??

Tryed re-installing codecs, and double checked my security settings, but still no luck :/

Just on yahoo movies it says the protocall is not supported, maybe that helps. Could be why it tries to refresh a lot too.

Did you tried "Network" settings under WMP options ???
All of them should be checked(HTTP,TCP,UDP, Multicast) and in small window you will see "HTTP Browser" "MMS None" "RTSP None" !!!

And it's refreshing a lot because server witch sends you stream is slow or has to many users or similar!!!

No I check all that stuff and I tried limiting individual ones. I'm sure the servers are fine too because they're all large ones like yahoo and stuff over multiple days.

Try find something here, never mind the title: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win.../firewall.aspx

The Following Are Some Tips To Optimize Streaming On Windows Media Player.
1. Start Windows Media Player.
2. Click the Tools menu and choose Options.
3. Click the Performance tab.
4. Click "My connection speed is:" and select the appropriate speed for your Internet connection. Select Modem (56 kbps) or a lower speed if you have a 56k dial-up modem connection. Select DSL/Cable (256 kbps) or a higher speed if you have a high-speed connection (DSL, Cable Modem, T1, etc.).
5. Click OK.
6. NOTE: You can change these settings at any time.

Optional Advanced Settings for Windows Media Player:
1. Click the Network tab and select all the protocols: Multicast, UDP, TCP, and HTTP.
2. Click the Player tab, select "Enable automatic codec download", and choose how often you would like to upgrade (i.e., once a day, once a week, or once a month).

OR DID YOU TRY THIS:
Click tools> manage add_ons >show > add-ons that have been used by Internet explorer
Then scrool down and ther should be two Windows Media Player Active X add-ons : wmp.dll , wmp.dll

Ok I tried that stuff, and I managed to figure out how to get the error details So here's what it says:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:").

I don't have any ideas on this one. I'm pretty sure that it must be http: as they are all streaming from websites and not working.
