Registry Cleaning Program messed up my XP!

I ran a program called Registry Mechanic on my computer. After the deep analysis and cleaning, I restarted. Now everything is funky on my system. My start menu has none of those quick access icons, when I try to put a wallpaper up, it won't, on the bottom-right corner, all my icons of programs I was running are gone... none of those start up anymore, it even messed up my Microsoft Outlook so I can't run it. My Internet Explorer crashes every time I use it now too. It seems to have caused a lot of problems. I tried to option to refer back to system restore point that the program supposedly creates, but it didn't work.

Any ideas?

Try using Windows system restore.
Click "Start"
Right click "My Computer"
Click "Properties"
select the system restore tab and carry out a system restore back to a point before you used registry mechanic.

What does that do? It seems to do some setting, but how do I actually revert back to a different point?

I tried the system restore.. it didn't work. Then I tried to start in safe mode and select the option that said to revert back to the last system that worked, and that did nothing either. None of these system restore things have worked so far.

You have to go back to a point before you cleaned up your registry, or are you doing that?
