Win Xp Media Problems

Ok, I have windows xp media center edition on a gateway 835GM. Now when I go to play a dvd, I get this error message: The video decoder is not installed or is malfunctioning. Restarting the machine or media center does not work and I can't find any downloads for this at good ole' microsoft. Does anybody have any ideas?

Did it ever work right?? If so then a reinstall of media center should fix it.

How would I just reinstall Media Center? Don't I have to install a fresh copy of Win Xp along with it, because it is embedded in the operating system?
